No big-company nonsense
My business partner and I started this company because we were tired of all the nonsense that came with working for a larger organization. A good example of this are performance plans and performance reviews. You set somewhat arbitrary goals that don't make sense by the end of year and get evaluated against these arbitrary goals in order to determine your bonus and raise, which is typically pretty small.
We just wanted to do good work for the clients and get rewarded appropriately.
We are a very small company (4 people) and we do our best to avoid all that BS.
Here is what you can expect if you work for us:
Our whole schtick is that if you make the client/customer happy, we’ll leave you alone to operate autonomously and pay you well for it.
We don’t have any collateral duties like proposal writing or anything like that, so the focus will just be on the actual job.
We don’t have any company bureaucracy because we are only 4 people. For example, if you want to take an online course you can just pay for it and we’ll reimburse without some crazy approval process (assuming it’s not like a $10k course).
If in the future you want to be ambitious and build out business or something like that we can work together to figure out an appropriate incentive/structure.
There are also a few reasons why you shouldn't work for us:
If you are interested in climbing the corporate ladder, we are too small to offer such a ladder. I guess we could make up some fake job titles to make you happy but that would be pretty patronizing.
If you are someone that needs lots of guidance and hand-holding to do your day-to-day work, unfortunately we can't offer that either. We can help when we can but for the most part you'll be on your own.
A competitive compensation package
You may think that as a small company, we couldn't possibly offer a competitive compensation package. We can and do! Because we don't have any overhead like office space or administrative employees, we can invest a bit more into compensating you.
Here is what we offer:
Salary: We will work with you to come to a number that you feel good about.
Bonus: We give a guaranteed 5% bonus if you hit 1800 billable hours, but we have given more for good performance.
PTO: 'Unlimited' PTO, so long as you are reasonable about it. If you are going for teh 5% bonus, 1800 billable hours comes out to about 5 weeks of PTO + 10 federal holidays.
401k: We match 5% of your contributions, no vesting.
Health Care: We offer an excellent CareFirst Platinum PPO plan. We cover 100% of the premium for you and 50% of the premium for any dependents.

Bottom line: If you are someone that is looking to avoid or escape the traditional big company baggage and simply wants to do their job well and be compensated accordingly, then we are the type of company you should work for.
